KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION PROCEDURES FOR ENROLLMENT FOR SEPTEMBER 2020 (children born in 2015)
The Greater Victoria School District #61 has recently made changes to the enrollment priorities for schools within the district. To read more about this recent change, please see the information on the district website.
All Kindergarten students must register with their catchment school. Your child’s catchment school is based on your home address. If you would like to find out what your catchment school is, please use the School Locator Tool, found on the district website.
To register a student in any school, you must also provide school-age eligibility. You must be able to produce the required documentation for proof of address. For more information on accepted documentation, please see the information on the district website (https://www.sd61.bc.ca/parent-student-resources/registration/documentation/).
If you are trying to register a NON-CATCHMENT student, you must register at your catchment school first and participate in the Kindy transfer process during the week of January 20 – 24, 2020. https://www.sd61.bc.ca/parent-student-resources/student-transfer-process/
We will contact all families directly in early March (via email) to advise whether we are able to offer NON-CATCHMENT students enrollment or not. All spaces will be offered in order of enrollment priority, according to the district policy. For those families that we are not able to accommodate, the email you receive will advise you to register at your catchment school.
See the calendar for registration on the district website (https://www.sd61.bc.ca/parent-student-resources/registration/registration-transfer-dates/).
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the school.
GRADE 5 PRE-TRANSITIONS TO MIDDLE SCHOOL
The Greater Victoria School District #61 has recently made changes to the enrollment priorities for schools within the district. To read more about this recent change, please see the information on the district website https://www.sd61.bc.ca/parent-student-resources/student-transfer-process/
Historically all of our grade 5 students leaving to middle school were automatically pre-transitioned to Cedar Hill Middle School. This is no longer the case. As of January 2018, all middle school students within the district have been pre-transitioned to their catchment middle school. Your child’s catchment middle school is based on your home address. If you would like to find out what your catchment middle school is, please use the School Locator Tool, found on the district website.
In January 2020 each grade 5 student will receive a letter from the school which will let you know to which school your child will be pre-transitioned. If you do not wish to attend that school, you must apply for a transfer during either Late French Immersion Registration Week (January 27 – 31, 2020) or K-12 District Transfer Process Week (February 10 – 18, 2020). These forms are available at the school your child currently attends. More information is available on the school district website.
